Expressions of interest to better protect renters’ personal information
The Department of Finance and the Treasury invite organisations to express their interest to work with government to pilot the use of Digital ID and the Consumer Data Right (CDR) to better protect renters’ personal information.
The pilot will seek to make it easier for people to apply for a rental property and share less personal information by demonstrating that rental applicants can:
Verify who they are with a Digital ID, without handing over copies of their ID documents.
Use the Consumer Data Right (CDR) to demonstrate they can afford to make rental payments without needing to provide copies of their bank statements, payslips or other documents.
The expression of interest is open from 9:00 am AEDT on Friday, 21 March 2025 until 5:00 pm AEST on Friday, 16 May 2025.
