New Franchising Code of Conduct: Table of key changes

Treasury has published a table which explains changes to the Franchising Code of Conduct that start from 1 April 2025. This follows the Code being recently remade.

The new Code is similar to the current 2014 Code but has some changes. Key changes include:

  • simpler rules and formatting

  • easier pre-entry and renewal processes

  • faster termination for serious misconduct

  • better protections for franchisees

  • more ways to encourage good behaviour.

The government will release technical guidance on the Franchise Disclosure Register on 1 April 2025.
