FY26 AFIA Annual Review
FY26 has been a year of rapid change, as technology, regulation, economic pressures and customer expectations continue to reshape Australia’s finance industry.
Throughout the year, AFIA strengthened industry standards, expanded our evidence base, supported members through significant regulatory change and amplified the voice of non-bank and specialist finance providers.
Our work spanned some of the most important issues shaping the industry:
- balanced regulation, competition and access to finance
- AML/CTF reform, financial crime and operational resilience
- artificial intelligence, digital technologies, privacy and cybersecurity
- housing, taxation, securitisation markets and capital allocation
- EV and hybrid vehicle uptake and climate transition
- customer outcomes, vulnerability and distribution
With 44 member events delivered and 43 submissions made to government and regulatory inquiries, AFIA connected industry, policymakers and regulators while contributing to the policy and regulatory discussions shaping Australia’s finance industry.
A defining achievement was the launch of the AFIA Finance Industry Code of Practice, Australia’s first non-bank and specialist lending industry code, strengthening our industry’s commitment to high standards of conduct and customer care.
Together, we are helping shape a more resilient, competitive and innovative finance industry that contributes to Australia’s long-term prosperity.
