AFIA is pleased to partner with Uniting to deliver this important in-person leadership development session focused on supporting employees and customers experiencing family violence.

This practical and confidential session is designed specifically for people leaders and people managers working across the finance industry. It will provide participants with the awareness, language, and tools needed to navigate sensitive disclosures, support staff wellbeing, and manage workplace safety risks effectively.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the different forms of family violence, the impacts on the workplace, and how to respond with confidence and compassion while protecting privacy and safety.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the various forms of family violence, including economic abuse and coercive control

  • Learn how to recognise signs and respond sensitively to disclosures from colleagues or customers

  • Understand the impact of family violence on the workplace, including absenteeism, performance, and team dynamics

  • Be able to apply a safe and respectful conversational framework to navigate sensitive conversations

  • Know how to identify and support staff who may be experiencing family violence and refer them to appropriate support

  • Learn how to approach difficult conversations with care and confidence, ensuring appropriate boundaries

  • Gain tools to manage privacy, confidentiality, and safety risks related to customer or staff disclosures in the workplace
