Scams – mandatory industry codes

On 29 January 2024, AFIA submitted a response to the Scams – mandatory industry codes consultation.

AFIA is pushing for improvements in how scams are understood and managed, highlighting several key areas:

  • More precise definitions of scams and alignment across different regions, industries, and internationally.

  • Better clarity to assist consumers in recognising scams and understanding their rights.

  • Improved facilitation for businesses to respond effectively across diverse markets.

  • Greater certainty about what constitutes credible intelligence for reports.

  • Clearer guidelines to encourage information sharing and protect reputation.
